Talks ∋ Re-interpreting data

Introduction

I have given this talk twice now. Most recently at RubyConf ‘23 held in San Diego during November 2023 and originally at the January 2020 meeting of the London Ruby User Group (LRUG).

RubyConf 2023

The second version of this talk. While I was proud of the talk I gave at LRUG in January 2020, I always felt there was a better version of it to be done. I decided to submit it for RubyConf 2023 and I was surprised and delighted to be selected. That gave me the opportunity to work on that better version by expanding on some of the text heavy slides in the original by adding graphics to help explain the concepts, and to provide a slightly more coherent conclusion focussing on encouraging curiosity and fun while coding.

London Ruby User Group January 2020

The first version of this talk. The theme of the meeting was “A Ruby Talent Show” where we wanted people to show of things that ruby can do other than building websites or doing devops. I chose to talk about a little project to convert arbitrary files into sound or images.
